The City of Stonnington recognises the important role that events, public programming, activations and local businesses have in shaping the unique experiences and character of places, attracting people to activity centres and creating a vibrant destination for all.

The Economic Activation and Event Grants

The Economic Activation and Event Grant seek to support local businesses and organisations to deliver place specific activations and unique experiences to public spaces within the City of Stonnington's commercial precincts. 

The Economic Activation and Event Grant program has a total pool of $100,000 in the financial year 2024-25 and provides up to $20,000 per successful grant applicant to support unique experiences, entertainment, and events. Funding is available for businesses, organisations, community groups and individuals. 

The Economic Activation and Event Grant program aims to test new ideas in public spaces, support local businesses and create unique community experiences for locals and visitors alike. The following key objectives are priorities identified by our local communities: 

  1. Increase visitation to our places 
  2. Increase economic activity in our municipality 
  3. Improve place perceptions and experience 
  4. Grow the local economy.

Confirmation of Eligibility

As an applicant, I confirm that:

  • I have read and understand the program guidelines 
  • I am able to demonstrate alignment between our project and the aims of this program
  • I will deliver the project within one of the 27 activity centres within the City of Stonnington boundaries
  • I represent a registered business, not-for-profit organisation or I am an artist
  • I represent an incorporated organisation, or am not incorporated and being auspiced by an incorporated organisation for the purposes of this application
  • I will deliver the project within the City of Stonnington
  • I am able to demonstrate financial viability 
  • I do not have any pending acquittals, debts or reports owing to the City of Stonnington
  • This project is not currently funded by any other City of Stonnington grants
  • I have, or will obtain, the appropriate type and level of insurance for the activities and permits that are the subject of this grant
  • I am able to make a co-contribution to the delivery of the activation as required
  • I am over the age of 18 years.
